FIEO (Federation of Indian Export Organisations) in collaboration with Expogroup is delighted to present an exciting export opportunity to Indian Manufractures & Exporters in the East African Market of 380 million consumers. Several Indian Companies will participate at the upcoming 15th KITE which will present over 10,000 products, equipment and machinery from over 30 countries. The number of exhibitors and visitors in 2011 is expected to rise by at least 20% since an aggressive campaign has been launched while celebrating the event's 15th birthday.
Trade visitors from all over East & Central African countries are being invited directly and in collaboration with several regional trade bodies in Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Uganda, Somalia, Mozambique & Zaire.
Though Kenya by itself is one of the biggest markets in Africa, major emphasis is being laid upon attracting traders and importers from neighboring countries. The experience and comments of exhibitors at previous events indicate substantial gains from unexpected foreign visitors and we strongly feel that a rise in such statistics would ensure business specially for the foreign participants who form almost 80 - 85% of the exhibition.

East African Countries are becoming increasingly important to India because of their brisk growth and the conducive business environment they offer. Kenya is the biggest economy within the East African Countries and is generally perceived as Eastern and central Africa's hub for Financial, Communication and Transportation services.
Kenya has a free enterprise economy and the strongest industrial base in the eastern and central African region. Kenya's economy is market-based, with a few state-owned infrastructure enterprises, and maintains a liberalized external trade system.

In recent times, there is a growing trade and investment partnership. Indian firms have been investing in Kenya in telecommunications, petrochemicals and chemicals, floriculture etc and Indian firms have executed engineering contracts in the power and other sectors.
Bilateral trade has registered a substantial increase in the last 4-5 years with the trade volume exceeding US $ 1200 million last year.
Major exports from India to Kenya include drugs and pharmaceuticals, chemicals, machinery etc. Major imports from Kenya include raw cashew, leather and leather products, scrap metal etc.
As Kenya is a major exporter of agricultural and horticultural products, there is scope for cooperation in setting up agro-processing industries in Kenya.
Other promising sectors for cooperation include drug and pharmaceuticals and infrastructure development sectors like roads, rail, telecom including equipment and accessories, energy including generation and distribution, expansion of Kenya pipeline, expansion of airports. Moreover, as Kenya's tea industry is one of the world's largest, there is enormous scope for exports of tea machinery to Kenya. In order to facilitate exporters to explore the business opportunities in this market, FIEO is participating in the 15TH KENYA INTERNATIONAL TRADE FAIR to be held at Kenyatta International Concerence Center, Nairobi, Kenya from 26th to 28th November 2011
